Press Release - Workshop on anaerobic technologies applied to the food and beverage industry

On june 22, the final event of the LIFE WOGAnMBR project was organized in Can Serra (Cornellà de Llobregat, Barcelona). It was a technical conference/workshop titled "Anaerobic Technologies Applied to the Food and Drink Industry".

The workshop focused on the purification of industrial wastewater from food and beverages industry. I was a pleasure to host about 50 people from universities, technology centers and the food and beverage industry.

The workshop was divided into two blocks. During the first part of the workshop, was exposed the technological evolution of the anaerobic digestion for the treatment of industrial wastewaters and also the challenges related to water management in the food and beverage industry. In addition, the LIFE WOGAnMBR project was explained.

The second block exposed the DACS technology and the experience of the Suez Group in the operation and maintenance of anaerobic reactors in the agrifood industry. In addition, took place a talk on the treatment and recovery of biogas in the food and beverage sectors. To conclude, a round table was held facing the needs and challenges of anaerobic technology in the industrial sector.

The workshop attendees were pleased and highlighted by the quality of the speakers and the high participation of the public, who took advantage of the discussion space at the end of the two blocks to pose several interesting questions and engage discussion with the speakers and attendees on the difficulties and day to day of the implementation of anaerobic technologies in the food and beverage industry.
